Frederick Smith students grateful for the new addition to their school!

Installed September 2025

The Frederick Smith Secondary School got their very own Hydration Station compliments the Barbados arm of The Church of Jesus Christ & Latter-Day Saints, in collaboration with The Barbados Diabetes Foundation.

In a move aimed at promoting healthy hydration in our Barbadian students, this collaboration will see thirteen (13) secondary schools in Barbados get a free-to-use chilled water station.

The students learnt about this generous donation during their morning assembly, as they listened attentively to the encouraging words of Sheridan Greaves, Hydrate Caribbean Project Leader. Also in attendance were Elder & Sister Beaman from The Church of Jesus Christ & Latter-Day Saints and representatives from The Barbados Diabetes Foundation.

The principal, Ms. Shanelle Waithe, thanked the sponsors and expressed that a sustainable solution such as this was necessary in this environment, as students are able to to fill up instead of purchasing and discarding single-use plastic bottles. Deputy Principal, Sean Forde, expressed his love of this give back initiative by the sponsors, and recognized that it fit well with the Ministry of Educational Transformation’s Food Nutritional Policy.

In just 3 days, the students had already filled up over 1000 times!
