The St. Michael’s School staff and students, aware of the programme’s rollout in schools, were anticipating their own installation. Only the second of its kind, this system, sponsored by Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union, was set to provide over 900 students with purified water.
The system is perfectly located in the school yard, helping to keep water top of the mind at the school which has always encouraged students to get into the habit of drinking water. Students are also allowed to drink water during class time, which has not always been the norm across the board. The principal highlighted that this station will now make it easier for persons to refill their prepared bottles from home while at school, instead of having to make one water bottle last an entire day.
